Edinburgh West MP, Christine Jardine, has called on the UK Government to introduce an emergency ten-year programme to insulate every home in the UK.
The Liberal Democrat MP accused the Government of grandstanding rather than prioritising the needs of constituents, during Energy Security and Net Zero departmental questions in Parliament on Tuesday.
She said: “Instead of patting themselves on the back the Government needs to realise the real-world effects of their energy policy choices and the lack of homes adequately insulated.
“The Conservative’s lack of action over the past eight years means that my constituents are facing the double whammy of record high energy bills while reports of mould in homes are on the rise.
“This situation poses a real threat to the mental and physical health of my constituents in Edinburgh West.
“That is why the Liberal Democrats are calling for an emergency home insulation programme to cut people’s energy bills and tackle the growing incidence of mould.”
