A police investigation is underway after the body of a man was found in the Water of Leith near Saughtonhall Avenue this afternoon.

Officers cordoned off the scene with tape to allow for a forensic examination and refused access to members of the public.

No details are known at this time regarding the identity of the man or whether the cause of death is suspicious.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We received a report of a man’s body found in the Water of Leith, near Saughtonhall Avenue, Edinburgh, at around 12.05pm on Thursday, 8 October.

“Enquiries are ongoing to establish the identity of the man and the full circumstances of his death.”
