A 34-year-old man has been arrested and charged with police assault following a disturbance in the Wester Hailes area of the city which took place shortly before 10pm last night.

Officers were called to a flat in Dumbryden Gardens at around 9.50pm and locals reported a large police presence in the area.

The man was taken into custody and is due to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court tomorrow.

A Police spokesperson said: “A 34 year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with the disturbance and police assault, and he will be appearing at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Monday, August 10.

A full report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.”
