Former Hibs’ goalkeeper Jim McArthur joins Hibernian Community Foundation and club Historian Tom Wright for the latest episode of ‘If you know your history’ on Tuesday 18th of August 19.00-20.30.
Jim joined Hibs from Cowdenbeath in 1972 as back up to Jim Herriot. Eddie Turnbull gave him his debut against Dumbarton on 28th October.
In a 10-year-career he was a regular first-choice under Turnbull, Willie Ormond, Bertie Auld and Pat Stanton.
He helped the club to a Drybrough Cup win over Celtic and played in a League Cup defeat to the same team.
He also played in the three Scottish Cup finals against Rangers in 1979 then helped the club to the First Division title two-years later.
In addition, he featured in many European games including against Leeds, Liverpool and Juventus.
Jim is a ‘weel kent’ and popular face around the stadium on matchdays where he sits in the Upper West stand.
