A 91-year-old woman has been arrested in connection with a fatal road crash in Edinburgh.

The incident happened around 2.30pm on Tuesday, 30 June, on Morningside Road.

A three year old boy, Xander Irvine, was struck by a car which allegedly mounted a pavement outside St Columba’s Hospice charity shop.

A female pedestrian was taken to hospital following the incident and the road was closed to allow for an investigation by trained officers.

A full report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.
