Johnnie Walker is the official whisky of the Guinness Six Nations and they have some ideas about how you mix your drink according to the country you are supporting.
If it’s Scotland then it is the Scotland Highball you need to mix with a classic combination of Johnnie Walker Black Label and Ginger Ale along with some Crabbie’s and a thistle garnish.
And for the French game this weekend you could try a France Highball complete with Lemonade and a White Wine float.
The England Highball has sweet Elderflower Cordial and is finished with rose petals in a nod to the national emblem. For Ireland, the Scotch whisky is complemented with ice cold Coca Cola, with a splash of Guinness on top to garnish. For the Wales Highbal, paying homage to the proud Welsh dragon, the fiery highball includes Ginger Beer, a dash of lime juice and a garnish of flamed cinnamon dust.
Johnnie Walker ambassador Ali Reynolds created the recipes. He said: “The GUINNESS SIX NATIONS is a hugely anticipated event in the rugby calendar, and as the Official Whisky of the Championship it was only right that we got into the sporting spirit. Our Johnnie Walker Highballs are a great way to introduce rugby fans to whisky, and our special serves can be made at home – no matter the team you’re cheering on.”
Johnnie Walker is owned by Diageo who also own Guinness. In a move which echoes the success of the Guinness Storehouse in Dublin, the company is developing the former Binns at the West End to create the Johnnie Walker Experience.
