The Granton based Electric Cycle Company, Scotland’s largest specialist electric bike retailer, is keen to help those who are working in the frontline stay on the road.

They will offer free bike servicing for those working for the essential services, working at the frontline of the fight against the coronavirus pandemic.

The bike servicing will be carried out free of charge (there will be a charge for required parts with a 20% discount).

They are offering this to paid and volunteer workers from amongst others the NHS, Police Scotland, Scottish Fire and Rescue Service as well as pharmacists, cleaners, council workers, supermarket workers, health and community carer workers and everyone who is involved in tackling the extremely challenging effects of Coronavirus.

Neill Hope, Director of Electric Cycle Company, said: “Right now, we’re feeling pretty vulnerable and helpless and people way less fortunate than us in our easy bike shop life are having things way harder than we can ever imagine.

“We want to do our bit but what can we do? Well, we can fix bikes rather well, so from today, if you work for an essential service and you’d prefer to cycle to your place of work rather than using public transport, we’ll fix your bike for free, just pay for any parts you need, with a 20% discount.

“I’m paying my staff as I can afford to at the moment and business is pretty quiet so we might as well do make ourselves useful. But if this does go on for a long time please be patient with us and let’s not take the p*ss, we’re still just a small business trying to help.”

“We’ll disinfect your bike as best we can after servicing too just in case”

If you work at the frontline of the fight against Coronavirus and have chosen to cycle to work to avoid public transport and want your bike serviced for free, please contact The Electric Cycle Company, 133 – 135 Granton Road, Edinburgh, EH6 8DD Tel. +44 (0)131 552 0999.
