Dynamic Earth has moon related activities for your young people this half-term
Destination Space returns to earth this February. From 8 – 16 February 2020, visitors to the five star attraction can explore the universe.
There are explosive demonstrations, fun interactive activities and hands-on crafts.
You might explore the surface of Mars using Lego rovers and virtual reality, as well as finding out how space telescopes can help you to see back in time using infrared technology.
There is an opportunity to discover how satellites work, and how they can be used for weather predictions, GPS and even for tracking pirates; while Lego lovers will revel in the space themed Lego sets available for building and creating.
Even younger visitors will be kept entertained with the space-themed crafting activities on offer, including the chance to create a unique astronaut mission patch badge to take home.
Then there is the spectacular 360⁰ movie CAPCOM GO! which you can see in the ShowDome cinema. The film is an immersive, historical documentary that showcases the achievements of the Apollo programme and what it took to put the first human on the Moon.
Marketing Director, Eilidh Massie, said : “Destination Space was hugely successful towards the end of last year, so we’ve brought it back by popular demand. There’s something fascinating and thrilling about space travel, and people can’t help but be intrigued by it. The hands on activities are always a hit with visitors old and young, with things to learn whatever your age. The experience is guaranteed to entertain the whole family – and maybe even inspire some new NASA recruits!”
As well as the Destination Space activities, regular Dynamic Earth features include Scotland’s only permanent 4D cinema, the ever-popular real iceberg, a bone-shaking earthquake and the Deep Time Machine which takes visitors billions of years back in time.
Activities run from 8 to 16 February and will be available from 10.00am – 16.00pm daily.
These drop-in activities are included in the price of a Dynamic Earth ticket.
