Barry McEwan was second in the Margaret Chalmers Memorial sea fishing event at Usan Bay near Arbroath.
The carpet fitter from Port Seton landed six cod for 5.660kg using a cocktail including peeler crab and worm.
Barry, treasurer of the East Lothian-based Bass Rock Shore Angling League, was also second in the heaviest fish landed category with a specimen of 1.72kg.
Chris Horn from Fife won with 11 cod in a bag of 7.790kg and his father Mike, also from Fife, was third with 4.200kg.
The heaviest fish was a cod of 1.810kg caught by Keith Galloway. Conditions were not ideal for sea fishing with a calm sea and a heavy swell.
There was also a biting west wind which made it uncomfortable for the entrants.
