Bidding is due to open on Friday 31 January at noon GMT for seven casks in Cask 88’s third dedicated online cask auction, ‘Against the Grain’, which is named to reflect the diversity of spirit on offer.

Bidding will end ten days later on Sunday 9 February 5pm GMT and seven lots are featured, representing a range of diverse spirit and cask types, including two casks of grain whisky, two casks of new make spirit from Isle of Arran distillery and malt whiskies maturing in ex-Bourbon, ex-sherry and ex-rum casks.

The oldest whisky in the collection is a 45-year-old grain whisky cask from Invergordon distillery. All the liquid is distilled and stored in Scotland.

Sam Laing, head of content, said: “Our third cask selection showcases the diversity of the whisky cask market.

““Whisky enthusiasts are not limited by what the major producers choose to bottle and put to market.

“Whether they love well-matured grain whisky, malts with an uncommon cask finish or they simply want to observe a delicious new spirit as it matures and develops over time, cask ownership gives them the opportunity to find something unique, and then to put their own stamp on it.”
