Sam Masters (pictured) powered to an 18-point maximum but Edinburgh Monarchs still skidded to a 49-41 SGB Championship defeat at Sheffield Tigers.

Aussie-born Masters won all his six heats but received poor support from his team-mates with Josh Pickering next best on eight points.

Skipper Ricky Wells only scored two points and guest Ben Barker six points in the disappointing defeat in which three Tigers collected double-figures, Danny King (11), former
Monarchs star Justin Sedgmen, who was cut by Monarchs after a spell of poor form, and Zaine Kennedy both with ten points.

The visitors were only four points behind after Heat Eight but lost a 4-2 in the next race and a 5-1 in Heat 10 to fall 35-25 behind and they were unable to recover.
