The newest bookshop in town will be Topping & Company Booksellers on Blenheim Place which will be opening shortly, but before then you can buy tickets for some literary events.

They will begin with an event on 16 August with Sir Max Hastings talking about the Dambusters at Ps and Gs Church 10 Broughton Street EH1 3RH. Doors will open at 7.30pm

This event begins at the bookshop at 2 Blenheim Place at 6.00pm when you may get a tour of the finished bookshop. Then the event continues at the church in Broughton Street where Hastings will offer a fresh account of the Dambusters raid during the Second World War in his latest book Chastise:The Dambusters Story 1943.

Then on 29 August 2019 there will be an event with the Queen of Crime, Val McDermid.

At 6.00pm you are invited for a ‘glass of something’ and a tour of the bookshop. Then the audience will gather at Greenside Church just up the hill on Royal Terrace for an evening in the company of the author of the new book How the Dead Speak. Val will talk about the story involving her characters Tony Hill and Carol Jordan who make a shocking discovery…

You can buy a ticket for the event which includes a copy of the book for £18.99, but an early bird ticket for £8 can be redeemed against a copy of the book. And the scholar ticket for students and school pupils at £5.00 each is also redeemable against a copy of the book.
