A 21-year-old man has been taken to hospital with facial injuries following an attack in Stockbridge.
The assault took place about 22:25 on Tuesday night in St Stephen Street.
Police Scotland said a 27-year-old man had been arrested in connection with the incident.
Officers are appealing for witnesses and people with “any relevant information” to come forward.
