Berwick Bandits clash with Newcastle Diamonds in the SGB Championship Shield on Saturday and tapes go up at 7pm at the Mike Hope of Wooler sponsored Borders club.

Experienced Aussie Kevin Doolan will hope to carry his form from last weekend into the match.

Doolan powered to victory in the Bordernapolis individual event last Saturday with team-mates Aaron Summers and Nikolaj Busk Jakobsen in second and third place.

In fourth position was former Berwick racer Matthew Wethers who now rides for Newcastle and knows the track well.

Newcastle are spearheaded by ex-Edinburgh Monarchs star Steve Worrall who has real quality. The return is at Newcastle on Sunday, tapes-up 6.30pm.

Meanwhile, the Staggs Bar Monarchs stage their launch show in the Lindsay Stewart Theatre at Edinburgh Napier Craiglockhart Campus tonight (FRI) at 7.30pm.

That follows the club’s Press and Practice Day at Armadale Stadium.
