The five-star Waldorf Astoria Edinburgh – The Caledonian and celebrated Edinburgh chef, Mark Greenaway, welcomed industry, media, friends and family along to the launch of the brand-new restaurant, ‘Grazing by Mark Greenaway’ last night.

Guests mingled with the chef and discovered the laidback, ‘grazing’ concept, which showcases a mix of traditional, modern and sharing plates, incorporating locally sourced ingredients and unique concept dishes created by Mark. Food demo stations brought the menu to life throughout the evening, with guests trying stand-out dishes, such as BBQ shiitake mushrooms on toast, cured meat and choux pastry picnic boxes and fluffy Japanese buttermilk pancakes.

The new restaurant has recently undergone refurbishment, maintaining its informal look and feel, with updated décor featuring a few of Mark’s personal accents.

Mark said: “We have been working really hard the past couple of months to get the concept of Grazing just right, and it was rewarding to see it so well received by our guests last night. Many new and familiar faces enjoyed tasters of our new and unique concept dishes and enjoyed ‘grazing’ and mingling at their own pace.”

With 160 covers, the restaurant offers private dining and ‘chef’s table’ experiences.

Mark continued: “Reservations have already opened to the public and we look forward to serving up our tasty dishes to diners in one of Edinburgh’s historic buildings, but within a relaxing environment that is accessible to all.”

Dale MacPhee, General Manager at the Waldorf Astoria Edinburgh – The Caledonian, said: “Mark has injected lots of energy and enthusiasm over the past few weeks, there has been huge excitement across the hotel as staff have watched the new restaurant offering come together. My team were proud to unveil ‘Grazing by Mark Greenaway’ last night and hear so much positive feedback about the food already. I’m sure Grazing will make its mark in the West End very quickly among locals, corporates and visitors alike.”

The restaurant, which is located on the ground floor of the hotel and accessed via Rutland Street, will be open to the public on Friday 19 April 2019. To book, email grazing.reservations@waldorfastoria.com or call 0131 222 8857.
