Musselburgh Racecourse’s popular Ladies’ Day is among four events short-listed for a Thistle Award.

So is the Aberdeen Standard Investments Scottish Open held at Gullane.

Salomon Skyline Scotland™ and the Stirling Scottish Marathon are also contenders for the Best Sporting Event at this year’s Scottish Thistle Awards on 14 March at the Edinburgh International Conference Centre.

Musselburgh Racecourse’s Ladies Day is held in June and attracts a non-traditional audience to the race track.

It has a significant impact on the local economy, raising the profile of the town and surrounding area.

The Aberdeen Standard Investments Scottish Open attracted more than 60,000 visitors to Gullane as well as global media coverage.

The Salomon Skyline Scotland ™ is an annual set of four skyrunning races which take place on consecutive days in the mountains around Kinlochleven in Lochaber. The World Championship there attracted more than 2,000 runners from 60 countries.

Judges noted that the Stirling Scottish Marathon has been a game-changer for Stirling and its ambition to host major events.
