Lewis Allan was delighted to be named in the starting line-up for Hibs game against Livingston at the Tony Macaroni Arena and is now looking ahead to the rest of the season, targeting more minutes and goals with the Development Squad and hoping to add to his appearances at first team level.
The youngster told Hibernian Media: “My main ambition is to keep going on at both levels. In the Reserve League set-up I’m just aiming to get as many minutes under my belt, keep playing as well as I can, and score as many goals as possible.
“I need to do that to keep in the manager’s eye this season. I know there will be injuries, there will be suspensions and other things could happen to first team players, so you’ll get a chance. If you do, you want to take it.
“I’m wanting to add to my one appearance this season, I want to try and get more minutes at first team level. I’m looking forward to the rest of the season – it’s an exciting time.”
He did his chances no harm with a hat-trick in Monday afternoon’s 8-2 victory over Partick Thistle Reserves at Lesser Hampden in the SPFL Reserve Cup.
He praised his team-mates for their performance in the shadow of the National Stadium, at Lesser Hampden the previous week.
He continued: “It was great scoring a hat-trick. My first goal was our third one and it was a really good move. I’d say it was probably the best goal of the day.
“We won the ball back in our corner and Andy Blake has passed it to Callum Donaldson. Innes Murray has played it to me and I’ve played it into Callum and got it back. It was a really nice move from us.
“It was a very convincing performance from us. When they had a man sent off it made it a wee bit easier for us, but they were still dogged and kept on and tried making it as hard for us as they could.
“Overall, it was a really good performance and a great response from the disappointing result and performance last week.”
