The weather is still having an impact on local trout fisheries and the prospect of Beast from the East 3 over Easter is a real threat.
Clubbiedean above Colinton in the Pentlands still closed but Loganlea, even higher up in the Pentlands above Flotterstone, opened in a blizzard last Saturday.
They were closed on Sunday and the going was tough earlier this week however owner Karen Jack said Thursday proved fantastic with sizeable catches landed by fishermen. One landed a 10lb trout.
Lower down, Glencorse Reservoir was set to resume for the summer on Saturday. Remember, you must book for this water.
Rosslynlee suffered an ice problem earlier this week but the sport is improving and anglers are landing. Locals report that hothead damsels and buzzers doing the business.
Elsewhere, things appear to be hotting up at Morton Fishings near Mid Calder.
Several anglers reported landing their limit of hard-fighting fish in mid-week.
At West Calder, Allandale Tarn’s spring fed lake is fishing well with a number of anglers netting.
Meanwhile, the trout season has started on local rivers but the weather has been against fishermen.
Reports have been slow in coming in but permits for the Almond, administered by West Lothian Angling Association and Cramond Angling Club, the Esk and Tweed are available from various outlets.
Remember, The Water of Leith season does not start until April 1.
