The 2018 Edinburgh Fair Trade Festival will be held at Out of the Blue 36 Dalmeny Street in Leith on 10 March from 10.30am until 3.30pm.
The event is free and there are children’s activities such as facepainting, fair trade refreshments, music and special guests who will speak about their products.
There will be speakers from Mzuzu Coffee Planters Cooperative Union in Malawi and from the Scottish Fair Trade Forum.
There is usually a great variety of stalls with a range of fair trade products. Edinburgh is a Fair Trade City and has been for over 10 years now.
The Lord Provost is part of the Edinburgh Fair-trade Steering Group along with other councillors and businesses.
Fair trade crosses all boundaries of race, religion and gender, and continues to be a vital and positive response to help those communities in the poorest parts of the world to get out of extreme poverty.
There will be a number of musical performances throughout the festival. Two choirs will sing at either end of the day, one opening the event and the other closing.
HarmonyChoir is a group of singers, some of whom have lived experience of mental health symptoms, dedicated to enjoy singing & reduce mental health stigma.
Castle Chorus is a new Edinburgh mixed-voice choir singing traditional, contemporary, folk and roots music.
