Elite League: Fife Flyers 2, Belfast Giants 4; Dundee Stars 5, Manchester Storm 4 (after penalty shots); Edinburgh Capitals 2, Braehead Clan 5

Edinburgh Capitals skidded to their tenth straight Elite League loss.

Coach Dmitri Khristich’s nightmare start to the season continued with a 5-2 home reverse to Scottish rivals Braehead Clan.

The Murrayfield men bounced back from a 2-0 deficit to level after 31 minutes but Clan claimed three unanswered goals to take the points.

Tyler Scofield and ex-Fife Flyers star Brendan Brooks both netted doubles with Cameron Burt also scoring.

Capitals consolation strikes came from Denis Trakhanov and Marek Tvrdon.

Fife Flyers bid to finish top of Challenge Cup, Group B, ended when they lost 4-2 at home to Belfast Giants who top the four-strong group.

And the victory also counted towards points in the Elite League.

Giants led 3-0 after 24 minutes after John Kurtz, Darcy Murphy and Glasgow-born Colin Shields counted.

Danick Gauthier and Ian Young replied for the home side either side of the second break to make it 3-2.

But an empty net goal from Cole Jarrett with 33 seconds left meant the points went across the Irish Sea.

On Tayside, Dundee Stars and league pace-setters Manchester Storm went to overtime and then penalty shots after being level at 4-4 after 60 minutes.

And Stars kept their cool to convert the game-winner from Marc-Olivier Mimar after the sixth round of penalty shots.
