A police investigation is underway after a 15-year-old girl suffered an ankle injury which required hospital treatment in a hit-and-run collision which took place on Craigs Road at its junction with Craigmount Grove in Edinburgh at around 8.10am on Monday.

The teenage pedestrian was struck by a black hatchback car, believed to be a Volkswagen Golf, and the driver failed to stop.

The driver is described as a white man in his late 30s to mid-40s, of large build with facial hair, greying hair at the sides of his head and bald on top. He was wearing a blue jacket and blue jeans.

Constable Ryan Murphy from Edinburgh’s Road Policing Unit said: “The young woman has sutained a very painful injury to her ankle as a result of this collision, yet the driver involved has failed to stop.”
