Scotland’s hopes in the Europe’s top field hockey league were left in tatters in Barcelona.

Bromac Kelburne were humbled 9-1 in their opening game by hosts Club Egara. Ben Peterson claimed their only goal.

And an early strike from Hugo Genestet for French side St Germain saw the Scottish champions go down 1-0 in their second.

The double defeat ends Kelburne’s bid to make the Knockout 16 next year and underlines the gap between our game and top European sides.
