Mike Cazzola netted twice for Edinburgh Capitals at Dundee Stars

Mike Cazzola claimed a double as Edinburgh Capitals hammered Dundee Stars 7-2 on Tayside to claim their first points this season in the Elite League. Malcolm Gould netted twice for Dundee.

Capitals led 2-0 after the first session but claimed four goals with only one in reply in the middle period to end the contest.

Elsewhere, Evan Bloodoff netted four goals to silence the Purple Army in the sell-out crowd as Fife Flyers thrashed Braehead Clan 7-1 in the Elite League in Glasgow.

Todd Dutiaume’s men led 2-0 after the first period and 5-0 at the second break. They added two to their total by the 48th minute before Clan’s Tyler Shattock opened the home side’s account.

That result now increases the pressure on new coach John Tripp who takes his men to Sheffield Steelers in the Challenge Cup on Sunday.

Fife are at home to Guildford Flames in the Elite League on Sunday (face-off 6.30pm) while Edinburgh entertain Dundee in the Challenge Cup (face-off 6pm).
