Fife Flyers and Dundee Stars square-up in an Elite League double-header this weekend but both club’s are out in the cold as the other eight in the ten-strong Elite League look forward to the end-of season play-offs.
Dundee will finish a disappointing ninth while Fife have earned a second straight wooden spoon.
Fans hoped for so much more when the new management team took over pre-season but, once again, that optimism was shattered. The performance levels, it was argued, were affected by injuries to key men.
Michael Courts, the club’s interim head coach, looks to finish the season on a high note by beating their arch rivals who ended Fife hopes of finishing ninth and off bottom spot with a shock, overtime 6-5 road win at fourth-placed Sheffield Steelers last Saturday.
Swedish forward Johan Porsberger could be back in the line-up for the first time since mid-February after an injury lay-off.
Having Porsberger in the line-up would be a boost not just to the fans but also for playcaller Courts and he praised English-born left-wing or defenceman, Mason Alderson, who has been injured himself but supported the 32-year-old right-wing during his rehab.
An absentee this weekend could be Milan Lucic.
