Hibs defender Jordan Obita wants his team mates to use the disappointment of missing out on the UEFA Conference League proper as fuel for a successful domestic season.
Hibs 3-2 defeat to KAA Gent on Thursday night saw the club exit Europe at the final hurdle in painful, heartbreaking fashion.
And Obita is eager for all the players, staff and fans to be determined to have a strong 2026/27 campaign and bounce back at Dens Park against Dundee in the William Hill Premiership this afternoon.
Speaking post-match on Thursday, Obita said: “We can’t dwell too much on it, because we have a game in a couple of days to focus on in the league, and we need to try and get the three points.
“Obviously the moment right now is heartbreaking, because we wanted to be the first Hibs team to get into the group stages, but unfortunately that didn’t happen.
“Now, we’ve got a game on Sunday, and we need to try and turn it around quickly and make sure we have a positive result at the weekend.
“I expect it to be a tough game. They (Dundee) have had a good start, and they’re a pretty physical team, so I expect it to be a tough game.
“But with the quality on our team, with our attackers, I feel like if we can score our chances, we can have a good time and get a positive result.
“The team’s very good, the morale’s very good, and we know we’ve got to focus on Sunday and kick-start our season and try and climb the table.
“As you can probably tell on the pitch, our players have done well, and even the new lads that have come in, they’ve been good, and everybody is on the same page, so it’s very easy for people to settle in here.
“In the next coming weeks, we’ve got league games, and we’ve got a [Premier Sports Cup] Quarter-Final to look forward to, so we need to try and get to Hampden, and hopefully we can be successful.”
