Edinburgh City have announced that manager Gary Jardine has left the club. City lost 3-0 at Stenhousemuir in the Ladbrokes League Two on Saturday and Jardine announced after the game that he wished to leave the club he has managed for the last eight years.
City issued the following statement on their official website:
Edinburgh City Football Club wishes to announce that Gary Jardine has resigned as manager following the Club’s 3-0 defeat to Stenhousemuir this afternoon.
The Club would like to thank Gary for his hard work and dedication during his time at Edinburgh City and would like to acknowledge his enormous contribution in guiding the Club from the Lowland League to the Scottish Professional Football League and in achieving a seventh-place finish in the Club’s first season in the SPFL. We wish him well for the future.
The Board will now begin the process of recruiting a new manager and the Club will make no further comment until that process is completed.
Jardine has worked tirelessly for City over the last few years and has been the driving force behind the club’s rise from the Lowland League to SPFL status. Whoever succeeds him will find they have a hard act to follow.
