Artist Juliana Capes brings to life the Daughters of Penelope exhibition for all visitors, both sighted and visually impaired, through a descriptive spoken word tour with selected readings from poet Ken Cockburn. The pair have worked together to develop their own response to themes presented in the exhibition.
Using a narrative approach, Juliana and Ken will explore the exhibition from the point of view of the invisibility of women’s work and tie this to the invisibility of an ‘age of string’ and textile art. Looking at one woman who is moving through history describing the work she is doing to make sure it/she is visible, the textiles in the exhibition are brought to life in this unique gallery tour experience.
Hearing loop amplifier kits can be used with T loop option if required.
