Shakespeare Martineau has moved to bolster its presence within the Scottish capital by expanding its team, a move that the firm states is designed to support its continued growth across the country.

The firm’s Edinburgh office will see Sinead Pow formally qualify into the litigation team, following the successful completion of her training contract with the firm. Pow has been a part of the Shakespeare Martineau team since 2024, having previously graduated from the University of Strathclyde.

Joining the firm’s commercial property team in Edinburgh is Alexandra Lee, who takes up the position of solicitor. Lee transitions to Shakespeare Martineau from MBM Commercial LLP, the firm where she successfully completed her own training contract.

Her academic background includes graduating from the University of Glasgow with an accelerated LLB and a Diploma in Professional Legal Practice. She achieved a distinction in both of these academic pursuits.

The commercial property team in Edinburgh is further strengthened by the arrival of Alex Leung. Taking on the role of solicitor, Leung brings two years of post-qualification experience to the office. His academic credentials include a graduation from the University of Edinburgh, strengthening the firm’s ties to local educational institutions.

In addition to these solicitor appointments, the Edinburgh office has also confirmed that Iona Robertson has officially started her training contract.

Robertson is already familiar with the operations at Shakespeare Martineau, having initially joined the legal firm during a summer internship programme last year. Her current training contract will see her gaining hands-on experience working across both the litigation and commercial property departments.

Robertson’s journey into the legal sector followed a non-traditional route. Before pursuing law, she dedicated her studies to English literature and psychology at the University of Dundee. Following this, she returned to higher education to complete an accelerated LLB at the University of Edinburgh, which she followed with a Diploma in Professional Legal Practice back at the University of Dundee.

Fiona Pask, the head of the Edinburgh office at Shakespeare Martineau, commented on the recent expansion of the local team.

Pask said: “Bringing together experienced solicitors with those at the early stages of their careers is an important part of our continued growth in Scotland.

“It enables us to strengthen the expertise we offer our clients while creating opportunities for people to develop and build their careers with us.

“Our investment in talent reflects our ambition for the Scotland team and our commitment to supporting our clients across the region. We look forward to continuing to build on this momentum.”
