Hibs’ Head Coach Neil Lennon expressed his delight at his players’ performance following last night’s 4-0 pre-season friendly win against Dunfermline Athletic.
Hibs ran out comfortable winners with goals from debutant Danny Swanson, trialist Jermaine Pennant, Martin Boyle and youngster Oli Shaw.
After the game Lennon told Hibernian TV: “I’m delighted, more than pleased, it was an exceptionally good performance
“The quality of the performance and the condition of the players, considering they haven’t played since the sixth of May, I was surprised, actually. I didn’t think they’d play so well.
“We made a few changes at half-time, but that was always the plan to give everyone a run-out and I couldn’t have asked for more from the team. All the players made a good contribution.”
Long serving left-back Lewis Stevenson who came on as a half-time substitute, also praised the performance of the side, citing the fitness of the players as a major positive.
He said: “I feel good after the game and I think the boys all look in good nick.
“Some played the full 90 minutes and some played 45 minutes, but we all looked fresh and had a bit more in our legs.
“It was a decent performance. Four goals and a clean sheet – it went very well.”
Stevenson’s testimonial match against Sunderland takes place on Sunday with a 2pm kick off
