Hearts have announced that former player, captain and Head Coach Gary Locke is to return to Tynecastle as a Principal Ambassador. Locke, who was sacked by Hearts when Ann Budge took control of the club three years ago, has left his coaching role at Cowdenbeath.

Locke, a popular figure among the Hearts support, will take up a full-time position in the club’s commercial department.  One of his main roles will involve the building a new Ambassadors and Legends programme to support the continued growth of the club’s increasingly successful hospitality business, as well as the rapidly developing Heritage section of the club.

Meanwhile, Hearts fielded some players on the fringes of the first team as they defeated Livingston 1-0 in a pre-season friendly at the Tony Macaroni Stadium on Saturday. New signing Cole Stockton scored the only goal. Players such as Conor Sammon and Jordan McGhee – now returned from loan periods at Kilmarnock and Middlesbrough respectively – were included.
