Spotlight On: The Tomb, Saturday 10 June 2017 From 2-3pm
The National Museum of Scotland will host a talk let by curator Dr Daniel Potter, discussing the Valley of the Kings, the craftsmen who built the tombs and the robbers who raided them.
Admission is free, but you will need to book a ticket in advance. Recommended for ages 14 and above.
Elizabethan Costume Exhibit Until 10 June 2017, 10am-6pm
Students from Edinburgh College have created authentic costumes which are exhibited at the Milburn Gallery within the Festival Theatre. The costumes are based on those from 1550 to 1620, at the peak of the Renaissance and Shakespeare’s era. Free event.
Among Others: 200 years of Jewish Lives in Edinburgh, 11 June 2017: A newly-created programme of words and music exploring the history and experiences of Edinburgh’s 200-year old Jewish community. Featuring music by composer Phil Alexander, original writing by Ellen Galford, and oral histories. £10 admission/£8 concession.
Soundhouse: The Rachel Newton Band, 12 June 2017
Founding member of The Furrow Collective, Rachel Newton, will be performing her solo material with a talented band, composed of Sarah Hayes (keys and vocals), Michael Owers (trombones) alongside her usual band with Lauren MacColl (fiddle/viola) and Mattie Foulds (drums) performs songs in English and Scottish Gaelic. Newton’s latest album, Here’s My Heart Come Take It, was released last year to critical acclaim. Tickets are £11 available here.
