Josh Campbell, Kane O’Connor and Yrick Gallantes all graduated into the Hibs’ Academy professional ranks at the Player of the Year Awards, sponsored by Carabao, last night.

16-year-old Josh has been involved in the Development Squad for the last year despite his young age, and scored a memorable late winner in a 2-1 win over St Mirren in September 2016 for the side.

Kane, a central defender, has enjoyed a landmark season so far, with the teenager involved with the Development Squad in their league and cup campaign, as well as featuring for Scotland at under-17 level, notably in the Victory Shield.

Yrick, who signed his professional contract last week, has shown great promise and has continued his development at Hibernian, with the attacking player making his SPFL Development League debut at the age of 15. He has been involved in Development Squad matches this campaign and recently scored against St Johnstone in a 5-0 victory for the side.

Eddie May, Head of Academy Coaching at Hibernian, is pleased for the three young players as they make the transition into the full-time set-up at the Club.

He said: “Josh, Yrick and Kane have all performed incredibly well in training sessions and in matches, and it is a testament to their ability that they have all contributed to the Development Squad in what has been an exciting season for the team.

“The next step is to advance as players and get to the level required to be first-team players with Hibernian. The coaching staff here have full belief in the players to make that transition, and we will support their efforts to achieve their targets.”

The Hibernian Development Squad are in action on Tuesday afternoon at Oriam against Partick Thistle in the SPFL Development League, with the game kicking off at 2pm.
