Musselburgh and District Angling Association are gearing up for the new season this month.
The committee has organised a River Esk clean-up on Saturday, March 11 at 10am (meet at Job Centre) in a bid to have the river sparkling for opening day on March 15.
Club secretary Stevie Devine tells The Edinburgh Reporter that they will be concentrating on a stretch opposite the Job Centre.
He said: “We’re going to try tom clear some rubbish from the water after the heavy rain we’ve had recently.”
The last clear up netted items like a trampoline, pipes, shopping trolleys and several bikes among other things.
He said: “We’re trying to get the river looking spectacular for the season starting.”
Permits costing £20 for adults and £10 concessions are available at Ace Bike Co at 101 North High Street, Musselburgh (behind the Brunton Hall, Musselburgh EH21 6JE – cash only) and Edinburgh Angling Centre, Granton Retail Park, 65 West Harbour Road, Edinburgh EH5 1PW.
