The Radisson Blu Edinburgh donated forty soft shell-jackets to the volunteers who make up the Street Assist crew.
Street Assist are out on the streets in the wee sma’ hours in cold winter weather helping those in need.
This allows the emergency services to concentrate on more serious matters, while those who have perhaps become separated from friends on a night out get the help they need from the Street Assist volunteers.
Now the volunteers themselves will be cosy and warm thanks to the hotel’s donation of warm jackets. As well as keeping warm the jackets also help to identify the crew when they are out and about.
Street Assist use a decommissioned ambulance donated by South Central Ambulance Service and a mobile treatment bus to aid individuals referred by taxi marshals or nightclubs.
Richard Mayne, General Manager of the 238-bedroom Radisson Blu Edinburgh on the city’s historic Royal Mile, said: ”The staff at Radisson Blu Edinburgh are proud to play an active part in helping a number of good causes within our local community. Hopefully, our contribution of the jackets will help keep the volunteers at Street Assist Edinburgh warm during the night as they focus on helping those in need.”
