Division One (men): Bromac Kelburne 5, Edinburgh University 1; Western Wildcats v Grange postponed; Uddingston Ria 6, AAM Gordonians 2; Watsonians 0, Grove Menzieshill 4 (abandoned after 40 minutes).
GRANGE were knocked off the top of Division One by Bromac Kelburne and the weather was to blame.
The Edinburgh side were told of the postponement of their scheduled fixture at Western Wildcats as they were travelling through to the West of Scotland.
Andrew Brogdon, Grange’s player/coach, said the club have not yet agreed a date for the re-staging.
Meanwhile, Gordon Shepherd was pleased with a 5-1 scoreline over under-strength Edinburgh University but admitted it was not the best performance of the season so far by the champions.
Goals from Johnny Christie, Lee Morton, Ryan Holding, Josh Cairns and Nick Finlyson secured the win and earned Kelburne their seventh win in eight games.
That means Kelburne top the table by two points because Grange’s clash at Western Wildcats was postponed as the Edinburgh side travelled through to Glasgow.
Dundonian Shepherd said: “We did not produce our best performance.
“Edinburgh played well in spells but did not take their chances. However, we won comfortably and it is another three points in the bag.”
Meanwhile, at the other end of the table, Uddingston Riva improved their survival chances with a 6-2 victory over pointless AAM Gordonians and Watsonians were 4-0 down at home to third-placed Grove Menzieshill when the game was abandoned because of underfoot conditions.
