Edinburgh’s Christmas began today with ‘Light Night’ on George Street.
Olympic gold medallist and former pupil of James Gillespie’s High School, Callum Skinner pulled the Christmas bell to light up the 18 metre tree on The Mound. Guided by Arlene Stuart from Radio Forth the crowd helped him to count down to lighting up the skies above the city centre.
More than 60,000 lights stretch across George Street in the ‘Street of Light’ which creates Edinburgh’s trademark Christmas glow.
Although it was cold everyone there seemed to be having a good time enjoying the music and the fireworks at the end.
