The Blitz Spirit will be revived in Edinburgh this October thanks to the efforts of a team of volunteers who are fundraising for Capability Scotland.
Retired Cairn Energy Legal Director, Bill Keil, has brought together a team of friends and colleagues to help him organise the Spirit of the Blitz Ball, a 1940s themed evening of entertainment and dancing, with all the proceeds going to the disability charity.
The ball will be a showcase for local talent kicking off with a set from Gramophone DJ, Lord Holyrood, followed by a dancing demonstration from the Edinburgh University Swing Dance Society with a chance for guests to join in. Then big band music will be provided by the Bristo Community Concert Band and Carole Clarke.
The Grassmarket Community Project will be providing the1940s themed catering of stovies and scones. And of course there will also be a raffle where guests can win amazing prizes and raise more money for Capability Scotland.
Bill Keil said: “We’re delighted that Capability Scotland will be the beneficiary of our Spirit of the Blitz Ball. The charity provides such valuable services for disabled people in Edinburgh and across Scotland. We’ve had great fun organising this event and we can’t wait to see it all come together on the night.”
Julie Lunt from Capability Scotland says “We are so grateful to these wonderful volunteers who have given up their time over the last 12 months to organise what looks certain to be a spectacular event. All the money raised on the evening will help support Capability Scotland’s Edinburgh Services.”
