Hearts today announced their first official signing of the summer when former Kilmarnock and Dundee United striker Robbie Muirhead signed a one year deal to come to Tynecastle.
20-year-old Muirhead, a former Scotland Under 19 striker, first made a name for himself three years ago when he made his Kilmarnock debut aged 17 years. He moved to Dundee United two years later for a fee of £150,000. However, the turmoil at Tannadice, with the departure of manager Jackie McNamara early in season 2015/16 meant the youngster never really got a chance.
Hearts Head Coach Robbie Neilson told the official Hearts website:
“I’m happy to get Robbie signed up for next season.
“To get a player of his quality in for free represents great value, and I know he’s desperate to do well here.
“He knows the Premiership well and has real potential.
“He’s at an age now where that potential has to be carried through and I think this is the perfect place for him to do it. It’s win-win for all parties.”
Meantime, Hearts have loaned out striker Gavin Reilly to Ladbrokes Championship side Dunfermline Athletic for a year.
