Detective Chief Inspector Martin Maclean said: “We have had an excellent response with members of the public calling in with information and I’d like to pass on my thanks to the local community for this.
“Following a swift policing response involving uniformed officers, CID, Road Policing and specialist Police Scotland resources, a man was traced and detained.
“We are still seeking two men in connection with this robbery and I would urge anyone who has information which can help with our enquiries to get in touch.
“In particular, we are eager to speak to members of the public who may have seen anyone acting suspiciously around Balerno before or after the robbery, in particular around a beige or golden Renault people carrier style car.
“Also, anyone who may have seen two men acting suspiciously near to the Prison Officers’ Club at Longstone roundabout, or on the nearby path to Stenhouse, shortly after the robbery.”
