Star Wars fans who can’t wait another minute to see the hotly anticipated new movie will be flocking to the Odeon Cinema, Fort Kinnaird tonight for the Midnight opening.

The Odeon at Fort Kinnaird is marking the occasion, promising goodie bags for fans who dress up, as well as photo opportunities with the Fort’s own droids.

There will also be a Star Wars quiz and raffle to raise money for Odeon charities Variety and the NSPCC from Wednesday through to Sunday, with the chance to win a very limited number of the official movie posters.

Plus the dark lord himself Darth Vader and one of his terrifying Storm Troopers will be on site at the shopping centre on Friday 12-4pm, where they will be visiting Game, Ed’s Easy Diner and Smyth’s, as well as The Odeon.

The seventh Star Wars movie, directed by JJ Abrams for new owners Disney, will bring stars old and new to the screen. Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher and Harrison Ford all return as the legendary Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia and Han Solo, while a host of modern day stars are also joined by British newcomers Daisy Ridley and John Boyega.

image001The Force will awaken for Star Wars fans arriving at Vue Cinemas – as they will be welcomed by a full orchestra playing the movie’s iconic theme to help celebrate the opening week of this much awaited film.

The incredible performance of John Williams’ score will greet cinema goers at Vue Omni Centre on the movie’s opening night.

The venue is one of six locations across the country taking part in a special orchestral event to herald the blockbuster’s debut performance on Thursday 17 December.

The cinema lovers’ favourite chain announced last week the movie has sold over 400 thousand tickets in the UK alone.

Vue is opening a further 200 screens on the full opening and will make another 100 screens available over the opening weekend – paving the way for 75,000 more Star Wars fans to enjoy The Force Awakens over those first four days, with screens continuing to be added to meet demand.

The music will be provided by the Dunedin Wind Band, a community wind band that rehearses at Old St Paul’s Church Hall in Edinburgh.
