UK’s biggest Christmas drive-in cinema coming to the Royal Highland Centre at Ingliston.
With the world’s biggest outdoor screen, the Edinburgh Christmas Spectacular, a drive-in cinema festival that promises to be the festive family event of the year, will be playing iconic Christmas films and hosting a variety of festive entertainment at the Royal Highland Centre from the 19th to the 23rd of December.
The Edinburgh Christmas Spectacular will be showing Elf, Home Alone, a sing-along version of Disney’s Frozen, Love Actually, The Muppet’s Christmas Carol and Die Hard to thousands of people over the course of five days. As well as the movie screenings, visitors can enjoy the Lapland market, food and drink stalls, in-car karaoke and take part in the Christmas dress-up competition to win an array of festive prizes.

Created by Global Events, the Edinburgh Christmas Spectacular was designed to replicate the traditional American drive-in cinemas from the 1950s. The event features the world’s biggest outdoor LED screen, measuring 100 square metres. All visitors have to do to enjoy the showing is tune in to the movie through the car radio.
On average, British movie-goers now pay £6.53 to see a film at the cinema, whereas tickets to the Edinburgh Christmas Spectacular are just £26 per car. A standard car of five people will pay only £5.20 per person. Visitors can bring their own food and drink or buy the handmade street food from the nearby stalls. The Lapland market has free parking and is open from 10.30am until 9pm between the 19th and 23rd December.
The organisers promise a number of festive treats in Edinburgh city centre in the build up to the festival.
