Northern Ireland choir Cappella Caeciliana will be joined by its founder members The Priests for a free concert on the eve of St Cecilia’s Day. The concert takes place in St. Mary’s Metropolitan Cathedral (York Place) on Saturday 21st November at 7.30pm.
This is The Priests’ first-ever performance in Edinburgh. The widely-recognised singing trio holds the world record for the fastest-ever selling debut classical album and its members combine tours and concerts with full time roles as parish priests in Northern Ireland.
The programme includes the world premiere of Ut omnes unum sint, composed by Sir James MacMillan to celebrate the choir’s 20th anniversary, and conducted by the composer. Sir James MacMillan will also conduct his works ”O radiant dawn” and ”A new song”. The Priests will perform items from their four CD recordings, and Cappella Caeciliana will perform a range of works from the 16th to 21st centuries.
Admission is free. A retiring collection will be taken.
