To celebrate the release of The Scorch Trials film, US author, James Dashner, is making a rare visit to the UK for a one-off event in Edinburgh to meet fans of both the books and the film franchise.

Fans will get the opportunity to hear about James’ writing process and the translation of The Maze Runner series to the big screen. The event will be followed by a book signing.

Three daring CALA Homes colleagues have swapped luxury homes for adventurous sports and raised in excess of £850 for a local charity close to their hearts.
Technical Manager, Phil McCulloch and Sales Advisors, Ann Struthers and Kimberly Summers embarked on a 165ft drop down one of Scotland’s most iconic landmarks – the Forth Rail Bridge – and smashed their fundraising target to support local charity, Queensferry Churches Care in the Community (QCCC).
Phil grew up supporting and offering his help at various care homes including QCCC, who provide quality support services to older people and carers within the communities of rural north-west Edinburgh.
Phil commented: “I am a secret thrill seeker at heart so I was nowhere near as nervous about the abseil as I was about the unpredictable Scottish weather – but luckily the sunshine came out to support us!”
“Helping charities is something I encourage everyone, including my own children, to do and I am overwhelmed by the support and donations that people have given us. We have smashed our original target so I would like to say a big thank you to everyone who helped us raise over £850.
“Queensferry Churches Care in the Community is such a fantastic organisation which plays such a vital role in helping foster a real sense of community spirit and I am extremely happy to be able to give a little back to them.”
David Pomfret, Chairman of QCCC, stated, “We are extremely grateful for the ongoing support from CALA Homes and particularly, Phil, Ann and Kimberly on this occasion.”
“The aim of the charity is to improve the quality of life for older people, those living with dementia and those with significant disabilities living in and around Queensferry, the work we do wouldn’t be possible without the support and encouragement from people and businesses within the local community.
“From all of us here at the QCCC, we would like to say a huge thank you to Phil, Ann and Kimberly for their incredible fundraising efforts – they are definitely braver than any of us!”
CALA Homes (East) has a major new-build in the Queensferry area; its Dalmeny Park development recently launched a new phase of one and two bedroom apartments to the market, with prices starting from £165,000.
