M&S & MCS Sand Big Beach Clean Up 1 - 7-13 May 2015

To celebrate their Big Beach Clean-Up event at Cramond Beach, M&S has teamed up with The Edinburgh Reporter to give one lucky reader the chance to win £100 voucher to spend in-store. The winner could choose to add to their summer wardrobe, or pick-up some tasty treats for them and their friends from the retailer’s new Taste of the British Isles picnic range, which includes  the likes of Corned Beef & Pickle Sandwiches, Taffety Tart and Battenberg Biscuits!

Taking place at Cramond Beach at 10.30am on Monday 11th May, the Big Beach Clean event will be hosted by M&S in partnership with the Marine Conservation Society (MCS) and all local residents, businesses, families, students and societies are invited to join them in helping to scoop up unwanted rubbish. Employees from M&S Princes Street, Ocean Terminal and The Fort will be taking part.

COMPETITION CLOSED 12 noon on Tuesday 12 May 2015

Following the clean-up event, volunteers will be able to relax on deckchairs and enjoy entertainment with a twist. Giant versions of some of Britain’s best loved party games including connect four, jenga, twister, draughts and snakes & ladders will be set up on the beach for people to have fun after the litter-clearing work has been done!

So joining in with the event will be a load of fun but it also helps to get rid of the litter which is scattered around our coastline. This is the annual flagship event organised by one of the biggest retailers in the UK along with MCS who lead the fight against marine litter which is hazardous to people and wildlife.

Since the M&S Big Beach Clean-up began in May 2012 over 20,000 people across the UK have taken part and 62.5 tonnes of litter – the weight of Challenger 2 tank – has been cleared from our canals and beaches. The organisers are hoping this year will be our most successful event yet!
