Police are appealing for witnesses following a knife point robbery in a newsagents shop on Bellevue Road around 7.50 pm yesterday when a man armed with a knife threatened staff and made off with a sum of cash and other items.
The man is described as being 18 to 20 years old, white, 5ft 9in tall, thin to medium build and wearing a light-grey plain hooded top. He had a black and white checked scarf covering the lower part of his face and had his hood up. He was wearing grey jogging trousers.
Officers are now urging anyone who can assist with their enquiries to come forward.
Detective Constable John Dunn said: “From our enquiries, we believe the man was hanging about outside the shop for around ten minutes before he carried out the robbery. A number of customers entered the store during this time and I am appealing for anyone who saw the man to come forward.
“Similarly, if anyone has any other information that can help us in our enquiries we would ask them to contact us on 101 or through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
John graduated from Telford College in 2010 with an HNC in Practical Journalism and since then he worked for the North Edinburgh News, The Southern Reporter, the Irish News Review and The Edinburgh Reporter. In addition he has been published in the Edinburgh Evening News and the Hibernian FC Programme.
