Spartans’ striker George Hunter has joined SPFL Premiership club and Scottish Cup holders St Johnstone. The 18 year old has signed a full time contract through to Summer 2017.
Chairman Craig Graham told the club website: “We are really pleased for George and his family, and it is great recognition for all his efforts. It also reflects very well on the quality of coaching George received through his time training with both our Under 20 and 1st XI squads. George’s move is of great encouragement to all our younger players. We are very proud of all our ex-players playing in the SPFL at the moment”.
Manager Douglas Samuel added “From Day 1, George has demonstrated a fantastic work ethic and desire to improve, to be the best he can be. He has made a valuable contribution to our u20s current campaign and coped well whenever he has trained or travelled with the first team. He has a wonderful composure in front of goal which allows him to score all types of goals. George has earned this wonderful opportunity and we all wish him well”.
