Macdonald Houston House Hotel is a very old building with parts which date from the 16th century. There is a suggestion that Mary Queen of Scots actually spent some time resting here at one point, and certainly it looks the part!
Now it has been renovated to bring it up to the exacting standard required by today’s hotel guests. Seven restyled bedrooms within the imposing original tower have been transformed with 4-poster beds, powerful showers and in-room Nespresso machines.
This is all part of a £330,000 refurbishment programme of 23 bedrooms in the West Lothian hotel that is a key conference and wedding venue in the area.
Herve Bernier, general manager of Macdonald Houstoun House, commented: “I am very pleased that we can now offer guests the opportunity to experience the style and comfort of our newly refurbished tower bedrooms. We are also on schedule to complete the refurbishment of an additional 17 bedrooms by early February.
“This significant investment underlines our commitment to ensure Macdonald Houstoun House operates as a leading business and leisure destinations in the west of Edinburgh.”
The 73-bedroom hotel is just 10 minutes’ drive from Edinburgh Airport and easily accessed off the Edinburgh-Glasgow M8 motorway.
