Tonight Bruntsfield turned on their lights outside the Eric Liddell centre where a small crowd of families had gathered.

TV and radio celebrity Amanda Hamilton, helped by many of the children, turned on the lights in the trees outside the centre where a Christmas Fair then took place inside (where it was a lot warmer!).

The businesses in Bruntsfield were all open late for Christmas shopping, so it was an evening for all ages, and there is a wide variety of possible presents on offer in the shops there.

Euan Hastings fundraising manager for the Eric Liddell Centre welcomed everyone to the ceremony

The Edinburgh Popular Music Choir sang to entertain the crowds.

Just one thing we missed, well actually two. We did not make it back up the hill to Bruntsfield Links in time for the Boroughmuir Pipe Band and we failed to spot Santa! But luckily we still have time to give him our list in time for Christmas. Some of the children did not seem to know what they wanted for Christmas except one who definitely needs an iPad and a little girl called Iris in our video who wants a doll.

Whatever you do to celebrate Christmas there are many things to do around town right now.

Holy Corner Nativity Play takes place tomorrow evening starting at 6.30pm from Starbucks on Colinton Road. Tickets are free but MUST be ordered from info@cuttingedgetheatre.co.uk
