The Voice Festival UK is a charity dedicated to bringing people together through music. It aims to cultivate a capella communities in the UK by providing learning, performance and networking opportunities.

On Friday, the Voice Festival will host an afternoon workshop led by the superb five-piece a capella group Simply Soweto Encha.  The group will give an introduction to South African oral and dance traditions, vocal harmonies and energetic rhythms, teaching participants how to relax into creativity.

The workshop will be followed in the evening by a Showcase featuring a set from each of the participating youth, university and community groups, as well as a special collaborative number created during the workshop. Performers will  include Chacabella, Out of the Blue, Rachael’s Voices, Aberpella, The Sons of Pitches, The Accidentals and the Vocalites: Sweet Nothings.

The day’s activities will wrap up with an opportunity for socialising with fellow a capella singers and supporters.

The workshop will run from 3.30 to 5.30pm and the Showcase will take place from 6.30 to 8pm. Tickets cost £6/£5 for the workshop and £10/£8 for the Showcase. They can be purchased direct from The Voice Festival UK’s website; tickets for the Showcase can also be purchased from the Edinburgh Fringe Festival website.
