Police are appealing for witnesses following a serious road collision in the city centre.
The incident happened around 9am today at the East end of Princes Street, near Princes Mall.
A 66-year-old woman was involved in a collision with a X8 First Bus, resulting in her sustaining serious head injuries.
She was taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh before being transferred to the Western General Hospital, where she remains in a serious condition.
Local road closures were in place for around four hours while Road Policing Officers carried out enquiries at the scene.
Anyone with information that can assist with this investigation is asked to come forward.
Sergeant Brian Smith said: “We are still trying to establish how this collision occurred and are keen to speak with any members of the public who were on Princes Street at the time.
“In addition, anyone with any further information relevant to this ongoing investigation is also asked to contact police immediately.”
